About
I keep critical systems running and build the tooling that makes them easier to run. My work sits where operations meets engineering wether it's watching batch workflows overnight, chasing down incidents, and then writing the scripts and services that stop the same problem from happening twice.
Outside of production support, I’m pursuing a BSc in Information Technology, specialising in Software Engineering, while building and experimenting with my own self-hosted homelab. I enjoy working with containers, Linux servers, and system monitoring, with a focus on clean, modular architecture, reliable automation, and software that quietly does its job.
Experience
Systems Administrator · Momentum Health
- Monitor daily production systems and scheduled batch jobs, helping ensure critical business processes run smoothly and complete as expected in a live production environment.
- Monitor automated job runs, review execution logs and job statuses, investigate failures, and assist with troubleshooting when processes do not complete successfully. Rerun or escalate jobs where appropriate, following established operational procedures.
- Work with enterprise job scheduling and production control tools to manage scheduled workloads, monitor system activity, and support daily and overnight processing cycles.
- Perform routine production checks, maintain operational run sheets, document job failures and their associated error codes, and communicate issues to the relevant team members for investigation and resolution.
- Support planned system downtime and service restarts by following established procedures, monitoring system availability, and checking that scheduled processes resume as expected.
- Gain hands-on experience in enterprise IT operations, production support, incident management, and business-critical systems, developing a deeper understanding of how reliable infrastructure and well-managed production workflows support day-to-day business operations.
Software & Automation Development · Freelance / Project Work / University
- Built a range of practical software and automation projects using Python, C#, SQL, and Linux, with a focus on solving everyday problems and learning through hands-on development.
- Developed Python automation tools for tasks such as data processing, system monitoring, reporting, email notifications, and media management. Worked with SQL databases and built small applications that collect, process, and present information in useful ways.
- Gained practical experience managing my own Linux server and home lab, including running applications with Docker, setting up monitoring with Prometheus and Grafana, and creating automated system reports and alerts.
- Developed desktop applications and utilities using Python and C#, while completing C# as a university elective and building a stronger foundation in object-oriented programming, application development, and software design.
- These projects have given me practical experience across software development, automation, databases, and infrastructure while allowing me to continuously build on my programming and problem-solving skills.
IT SUPPORT TECHNICIAN · SDS Protection
- Provided day-to-day IT support within a security and control room environment, assisting users with technical issues and system-related problems.
- Troubleshot hardware, software, and operational system issues to support reliable day-to-day business operations.
- Supported internal security and control room software, assisted with software installation and updates, and helped maintain the reliability of business-critical systems.
- Developed small scripts and software utilities to simplify routine business tasks, improve workflow efficiency, and reduce manual effort.
